Perth Wave Energy Project Update, August 2010 //
Carnegie Wave Energy Limited (ASX: CWE) has made further progress on the delivery of its commercial scale demonstration for the Perth Wave Energy Project with design, procurement and testing of its CETO wave energy technology off Garden Island in Western Australia.
Launch of Perth Wave Energy Project, January 2010 //
Australian Wave Energy developer, Carnegie Wave Energy Limited (ASX: CWE), has advised of the formal launch on January 17th, 2010 of its Perth Wave Energy Project by Western Australian Minister for Energy the Honorable Peter Collier at Carnegie’s Wave Energy Research Facility in Fremantle, Western Australia.
WA Commercial Project Site Decision, October 2009 //
Wave Energy Developer Carnegie Wave Energy Limited (ASX: CWE) has received the results of its site feasibility studies which highlight the waters off Garden Island as the preferred location for Carnegie’s first Western Australian small scale commercial demonstration wave project.
Carnegie signs formal agreement to acquire 100% Ownership of CETO from REH, October 2009 //
The Agreement formalizes the previously announced Heads of Agreement and results in Carnegie now being the technology developer and global owner of the CETO Wave Technology. In consideration for the acquisition, Carnegie will now issue 235 million fully paid shares to REH, making REH Carnegie’s largest shareholder with 32% ownership.
Completion of data collection and performance analysis of the CETO 2 units, March 2009 //
Carnegie carried out the final operating and testing activities associated with the pilot scale CETO unit (CETO 2) at its Wave Energy Research Facility at Fremantle, Western Australia throughout 2008. Final performance testing involved the deployment of instrumented CETO 2 units connected back onshore to the Fremantle test facility with data collected over a range of sea and swell conditions. These results confirm excellent correlation between predicted and measured performance.
Carnegie receives $12.5million from WA State Government, February 2009 //
Wave Energy Developer Carnegie Corporation Limited (ASX:CNM) advises that the Western Australian State Government today announced that Carnegie will receive $12.5 million from the State's Low Emissions Energy Development (LEED) fund.
Carnegie Corporation Ltd (Carnegie) is investigating the potential for wave power generation along the southern coastline of Australia as part of the commercialization of its CETO wave energy converter technology, October 2008Wave power is a concentrated and less variable source of renewable energy with the potential to provide baseload electricity supply. The total estimated deep water wave resource for the southern coastal region of Australia, from Geraldton in Western Australia around to the Queensland-New South Wales border, has been estimated to be in the order 500,000MW (Carnegie internal report, 2007). This represents as estimate of the exposed open ocean conditions in water depths greater than 50m, as opposed to the wave resource at 25m water depth where CETO may be deployed.
Carnegie Corporation hosted the Curtin University Sustainable Policy Institute's Renewable City Conference, September 2008Held at Carnegie's Wave Energy Research Facility in Fremantle, Western Australia on Monday 29th September 2008. Two hundred people attended the conference facilitated by Radio National Science Show host Robyn Williams.
Continued Successful Development of the CETO Technology, August 2008 //
Carnegie (ASX:CNM) is pleased to announce the continued successful development of the CETO technology and, for the first time, has released video footage of one of the units in operation at its Wave Energy Research Facility in Fremantle, Western Australia. The video shows the CETO unit operating in a moderate swell driving the buoy up and down and the pump unit back and forth.
Successful Deployment and Operation of First CETO 2 Wave Energy Unit, February 2008 //
Clean technology developer Carnegie Corporation Ltd (ASX: CNM) is pleased to announce the successful deployment and initial operation of the first CETO 2 Wave Energy prototype off the CETO test site at Fremantle in Western Australia.
Onshore testing results with CETO 2 prototypes, January 2008 //
Carnegie is pleased to announce that the test results from its onshore purpose built CETO test rig are in-line with expectations, with the commercial-design CETO 2 prototypes delivering sustained water pressure at 6800kPa (approximately 1000psi) as predicted by previous design modelling.
Preliminary In-sea Trial Results, October 2007 //
Carnegie Corporation has announced that results of initial in-sea trials of its CETO II wave energy technology show near perfect correlation with results predicted by CETO computational models, confirming its design and clearing the way for deployment of the first commercial CETO II units within weeks.
Pump Unveiling, February 2007 //
The first CETO II prototype pump was unveiled at CETO Fremantle R&D facility by the State Minister for Energy, Science and Innovation, Mr Fran Logan. The State Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, Alannah MacTiernan was also present. This will be the first CETO II pump to be deployed and to operate off Fremantle in 2007 and utilizes the pumping technology developed during CETO I combined with a new design that allows for mass production and ease of deployment and maintenance.
CETO I Removal & CETO II Design Unveiled, November 2006 //
The CETO I prototype was decommissioned and removed from the Fremantle ocean test site in order to prepare the area for the deployment of the new CETO II array. The new CETO II design was unveiled by the State Minister for Energy, Science and Innovation, Mr Fran Logan.
CETO I Power & Freshwater Capability, May 2006 //
The CETO I prototype successfully proved the concept of converting wave energy to power and freshwater utilising the patented CETO pumping technology. This technology was carried forward into the new commercial CETO II pump designs.
CETO Turbine and Desalination Installation, March 2006 //
During the months of December and January orders were placed for a Pelton Turbine, supplied by Calder AG of Switzerland and a Desalination Plant supplied locally by Citor Pty Ltd. The turbine and desalinator allowed the conversion of the high pressure seawater into power and freshwater.
High Pressure Seawater Production, November 2005 //
At this time the CETO unit was pumping sea water to shore and the unit underwent intensive tests and analysis.
